How GaggleTN.com Works for StudentsKids of any age can use GaggleTN.com. It's very easy to use, and secure. GaggleTN.com mail is provided via the Web. Only an internet connection is required to access it. Students can log onto GaggleTN.com using any computer. They can log on from any computer in the classroom, the library or their computer at home. When students arrive at GaggleTN.com, they simply enter their username and password to access their account. The first thing students will see is their inbox. The inbox shows all of their mail folders and the contents of each folder. Clicking on one of the messages will display the selected e-mail to read. After reading the message, the student can reply, view the next message or create a new message. GaggleTN.com has many features including an address book for storing friends' e-mail addresses and sending/receiving attachments. Please take a look at some of the sample mail screens. How GaggleTN.com Works for TeachersEach teacher receives a Teacher level account on GaggleTN.com. Teachers can send and receive e-mail from this account just like the students or they can have the e-mail forwarded to a secondary e-mail address (for instance, their k12tn.net account). As a teacher, you can view the contents of your students' e-mail. You can review any messages which the students have sent or received. You will also have the ability to suspend a student's account and change their username and password. GaggleTN.com has a built-in monitoring system to watch for suspicious mail. Any student e-mail that is deemed questionable will be sent to the teacher's "Blocked" folder. The teacher has the opportunity to review the message and choose to delete it or allowing the message to be sent. Your School Administrator maintains a list of specific words or phrases to be monitored as well as a list of restricted domains, and e-mail addresses. For additional information go to Content Monitor or Address Monitor. Setting Up AccountsSetting up new accounts for students is very easy. A teacher can set up the accounts right on the Web or have the students enter their own information to create an account. Account information can be keyed in or pasted in from another source. Another option is to generate account key codes for each new user. These are special one-time account codes that are given to each student. When the student logs on to GaggleTN.com for the first time, they will be asked to fill out their user profile. Customizing the NetworkGaggleTN.com is all about giving teachers and schools control over e-mail. The GaggleTN.com monitoring system can even be customized. The School Administrator can choose which words and phrases to block and which e-mail addresses to block or allow. ENA and Gaggle.net are always searching for better ways to integrate useful technology into the classroom. Please let us know what we can do to make GaggleTN.com a success for you.
